3 Technologies That Will Disrupt Their Industries

Industries such as automotive, technology, and the healthcare industry have been around for over 60 years. As we move into the future, traditional industries begin to evolve, and our usual methods change and become more advanced as technologies develop. These new technologies can help advance industries, but they also disrupt our traditional practices in the process.

For instance, electric cars are disrupting the automotive industry. Electric vehicles are just like your everyday automobiles, except they run on electricity, and in most cases, have more advanced underlying software. Traditionally, cars run on gasoline and usually don’t have fancy maneuvers like self-driving or Ludicrous Mode (an exclusive Tesla driving boost). The development of electric vehicles was caused by the threat of global warming and the limited supply of fossil fuels. Electric vehicles can be powered by clean, renewable energy such as wind and solar power, so they don’t have harmful emissions. Additionally, electric cars are becoming more mainstream as younger people are more aware of gasoline vehicles’ long-lasting and harmful effects. More automotive companies are beginning to manufacture electric vehicles as consumer demand increases and governments impose guidelines to move nations to environmentally friendly futures. Thus, electric cars are disrupting the automotive industry and ushering in a new era of transportation.

Another large industry being disrupted is healthcare. Since gene editing can solve complex medical problems, medicines and medical equipment may no longer be needed — at least not in the capacity that they are used today. Gene editing was thought to be fictional, and scientists believed that it could not be done. Eventually, in 2013, scientists were able to edit living human cells. Gene editing can potentially cure diseases by altering the DNA of any living organism. On top of that, gene editing is fast, and once perfected, can be cost-effective as millions are saved on developing medicines and spending on hospitals. Gene editing is also said to be one of the greatest revolutions in this generation and will be utilized more in the future as this process develops.

Artificial intelligence (AI) disrupts several industries such as healthcare, banking, insurance, and financial service. For example, artificial intelligence is disrupting the healthcare industry by taking over doctors’ jobs. AI can collect data from people’s habits and daily lifestyles to help provide better feedback about staying healthy to customers. AI can read X-rays, CTs, and MRIs with stunning accuracy. 61% of marketers say that AI is the most important development in data strategy and analysis. Its applicability in various industries is why artificial intelligence is expected to become a $190 billion industry by 2025.

Change becomes inevitable as new technologies begin to disrupt our older industries and start to shape them into something newer and more advanced. For example, as the market of electric cars grows and the price drops with technological advancements, people will become more invested in electric vehicles. When gene-editing eventually becomes more perfected, it will be the medical treatment of choice in hospitals and clinics. As artificial intelligence advances, we will use it more for our everyday lives and integrate it into many industries. The disruption is already happening, and the changes will continue to grow exponentially!
