Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity disorder, in simple words, is a disorder categorized by a
person who finds it difficult to pay attention and can also have controlling impulsive
behaviors.
ADHD cases began to climb significantly in the 1990s. A few theorized reasons are:
ADHD diagnosis had become more efficient
Parents were becoming aware of ADHD symptoms
ADHD was seen in prominence amongst children
Scientists are still finding the cause(s) for ADHD, but the research points to a very strong
genetic link. A common misconception is that ADHD is caused due to bad parenting.
Who is prone?
Mostly children but adults are not exempt. It is a common misconception that ADHD affects
only children. Adults can develop it too. A person can also develop it as a child and ADHD
will remain with them in their adulthood.
