Tell us about yourself! (Write some personal stuff, some professional stuff, what you do for advocacy, etc.)
I am Risha Chaurasia, a 14 year old author, blogger and literature advocate from India. I have published 2 books so far called TRUCE and Tales of Twinkling Tweens. I also run a blog on Instagram called Straight. From. My.Pen which boasts over 3.7k followers and aims to spread positivity through stories.
Apart from that, I also advocate for reading among the youth through public appearances, speeches, events and author visits!
Why did you start writing?
I originally started writing at age 8, out of my love for words. Then when brainstorming for my first novel Tales of Twinkling Tweens, I wrote handbooks for tweens through the years and to publish a novel completely dedicated to tweens.
When the coronavirus pandemic hit, I found my real purpose to write. To spread positivity and hope in these unprecedented times and this is what I will continue doing. I want people to believe in the light at the end of the tunnel!
Tell us about your books and the messages in all of them
My first novel, Tales of Twinkling Tweens, is a tweens ultimate handbook through the years and provides first hand advice from experience.
My second novel TRUCE, explores the themes of friendship, love and self discovery and imparts a message of hope. It showcases the power of relationships and the impact true friends can have.
It makes one believe.
What is your favourite thing about your new book? Who would relate to it? Who is the target audience? What do you believe people will learn from your new book?
My 3rd book is high school centric and is a light hearted relatable story. I'm loving writing it, figuring out puns and funny dialogues to put in it.
Have you ever incorporated your own personal experiences in your stories?
Yes! Most of my writing is based on personal experiences, because I think that everyone has unique stories to tell. A personal experience makes the best story!!
